Munich, February 18, 2013.  The nominations for the International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award 2013 are in. In the first selection round, the jury chose twelve trucks and solutions from a total of five manufacturers for the final round from all the entries. Newly developed trucks, trucks that represent further developments or special models with significant technical improvements that have come onto the European market since June 15, 2011 were eligible for the award. "The entries by Atlet, Clark, Crown, Jungheinrich and Still have convinced the jury and therefore belong to the crème de la crème", says Anita Würmser, Chairperson of the IFOY Jury.

Nine nominees in three truck categories
The nominees in the Counter Balanced Trucks category up to 3.5 tons are the new EFG 425 electric four-wheel counter balanced truck from Jungheinrich in the EFG 4 series with a load capacity of 2.5 tons and the world's first series-produced hybrid counter balanced truck, the RX 70 Hybrid from Still with diesel motor, braking energy recuperation and a load capacity of 3.5 tons.
In the Counter Balanced Trucks category from 3.5 tons, the DFG/TFG 540 s diesel and LPG truck with hydrostatic drive and a load capacity of 5 tons from Jungheinrich and the GEX 40-50 electric four-wheel truck from Clark's GEX series, also with a capacity of 5 tons, have made it into the final round.
The nominees in the Warehouse Trucks category are the TERGO UMS reach truck from Atlet, the CTX 70 electric three-wheel tow tractor from Clark Europe, the TSP 7000 very narrow-aisle turret truck from Crown, the ETV/ETM 216 reach truck from Jungheinrich and the liftrunner concept from Still.

Three system solutions vying for "Forklift Truck Solutions 2013" award
Of the intralogistics system solutions in the category Forklift Truck Solutions, three concepts from Crown, Jungheinrich and Still have qualified for the final round.
Crown has entered a solution that reduces the maintenance and repair costs at Spicers, one of the biggest UK wholesalers of office supplies and consumables, by 90 percent. The use of a fleet of (also new) forklift trucks equipped with the latest version of the Crown InfoLink® system reduced has equipment requirements from 154 to 86 trucks, and maintenance and repair costs fell from over 11,000 GBP per month to less than 1,000 GBP.
Intralogistics provider Still centralised all external delivery warehouses at the Heideblume Molkerei dairy in Elsdorf in an automated logistics centre. By integrating computer-controlled reach trucks of the type FM-X14, which can also be operated manually if needed, and a sophisticated IT system, Still achieved not only a marked increase in productivity per unit area but also a lower error rate and met the customer's requirement for maximum flexibility.
Jungheinrich made it into the final round for the IFOY Award with a general contractor solution. In just two months, the provider planned and realised an IT-controlled, paperless logistics centre in Neuried for the Warimex mail order and retail company. Today, Warimex handles a product programme comprising almost 12,000 articles on an area of 2,700 m2.

Final decision during the IFOY Test in March
Which trucks are ultimately chosen for the IFOY Award 2013 will depend in large measure on the results of the IFOY Test, which all nominated trucks have to undergo over a period of one week on the trade fair grounds of Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover. Among other things, the IFOY Award, which is under the patronage of the German Economics Ministry, assesses innovative quality, technology, design, ergonomics, handling, safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability. The key criteria for system solutions include novel/innovative quality, customer benefit, sustainability and marketability of the entered solution.
The winner of the International Forklift Truck of the Year Award in each category will be selected in March by a jury made up of internationally reputed trade journalists and Europe's leading logistics media. The IFOY Award will be presented for the first time on June 4, 2013 in Munich in cooperation with the world's leading fair for intralogistics, CeMAT, at the CeMAT@transport logistic.  (4,599 characters, incl. space characters)
