  • International Forklift Truck of the Year recognises the year's best materials handling equipment and warehouse technology
  • International journalist jury appointed
  • Entry period from October 31 to December 21, 2012

Munich, September 18, 2012. The entry phase for the first "International Forklift Truck of the Year" Award, IFOY for short, will begin on October 31, 2012. Suppliers of materials handling equipment and intralogistics solutions will be able to enter counter balanced trucks up to and from 3.5 tons, warehouse trucks and forklift truck solutions for one of the four awards at www.ifoy.org up to midnight of December 21, 2012. Applicants for the award can already register from October 1, 2012 via the entrant portal on the new IFOY website.
Newly developed trucks, trucks that represent further developments or special models with significant technical improvements that came onto the European market between June 15, 2011 and December 21, 2012 are eligible for the various categories of the award. It must be possible to order the entered truck based on an official price list, and the truck must have been on the market for at least two months. Studies, prototypes, blueprints or minor optical facelifts are not sufficient. In the category "forklift truck solutions" a further award will be presented to a system solution in the field of materials handling equipment, and the winning solution must already have been successfully implemented in a company in the industrial, trading or service sector.
The winners of the International Forklift Truck of the Year Award are selected by a jury made up of internationally reputed trade journalists and Europe's leading logistics media. The jury is independent and makes its decisions based on transparent criteria and specialist expertise. Before the jury makes its decision, the trucks undergo the purpose-developed IFOY Test over the course of one week. Among other things, the jury assesses the innovative quality, technology, design, ergonomics, handling, safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability of newly developed trucks.
The key criteria for system solutions include novel/innovative quality, customer benefit, sustainability and marketability.
The sponsor of the IFOY Award is the VDMA Materials Handling and Logistics Systems Sector Association. The IFOY Award will be presented for the first time at an industry gala in cooperation with the world's leading fair for intralogistics, Deutsche Messe AG/CeMAT.
