IFOY Award Ceremony 2015
Night of Winners ...

It was the highlight of the intralogistics year. 160 guests of honour accepted the invitation to celebrate the winners of the International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award 2015 at BMW Welt in Munich on the opening evening of the transport logistic 2015 fair.

After the welcome address by the sponsor of the IFOY Award, Sascha Schmel (VDMA Materials Handling and Logistics Systems Sector Association), logistics partner Kai Hasenpusch (Hellmann Worldwide Logistics) reported on the test day and the logistics for IFOY. Dr. Wolfram v. Fritsch, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG and longstanding partner of the IFOY Award, provided a preview of the next IFOY season, in which Deutsche Messe AG – as is always the case in the CeMAT year – will once again be hosting the IFOY test week.

Before the names of the winners were announced, the 2015 finalists took part in a discussion session chaired by British IFOY jury member Peter Mac Leod. The panel featured Rolf Eiten (President & CEO Clark), Thomas A. Fischer (Chief Sales Officer, Still), Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach (Member of the Board of Management, Engineering, Jungheinrich), Sam Coles (Senior Vice President Europe, Toyota Material Handling Europe) and Bengt Kristiansson (Vice President Sales & Marketing, UniCarriers Europe).

The tension was tangible, because – with the exception of the jury – no one knows beforehand which of the nominated vehicles will walk away with one of the prestigious awards. The names of the winners were announced by congratulatory speakers Dorothee Bär (Logistics Coordinator of the German Government), Kai Hasenpusch (Managing Director of Hellmann), Wolfram von Fritsch (CEO of Deutsche Messe AG) and Professor Dr. Michael ten Hompel (Fraunhofer Professor and Executive Director of the Fraunhofer IML).

In short: anyone who makes it through to the finals should feel like a winner. This year, it was Jungheinrich, Still And UniCarriers who crossed the line first and won the IFOY Awards in four categories.
