Kurzcharakteristik
Die neuen Modelle der Toyota Tonero-Baureihe wurde für Schwerlastanwendungen im Tragfähigkeitsbereich von 3,5 bis 8,0 t entwickelt. Die verbrennungsmotorischen Stapler erreichen dabei Hubhöhen von bis zu 6m.
Herzstück der Geräte sind neu entwickelte Industriemotoren: Die Diesel- und Treibgasmotoren von Toyota ermöglichen eine kraftvolle Beschleunigung sowie hohe Fahr- und Hubgeschwindigkeiten – bei vergleichsweise niedrigen Energieverbräuchen.
Die Emissionswerte des Dieselmotors liegen selbst ohne Partikelfilter deutlich unter den Grenzwerten der Abgasemissionsstufe IIIb. Der neue Treibgasmotor wurde unter anderem mit einer optimierten Zündanlage zur Leistungssteigerung ausgestattet.
Die robusten Geräte spielen gerade im intensiven Einsatz ihre Stärken aus. Der sehr niedrige Schwerpunkt und Toyotas einzigartiges „System für Aktive Stabilität“ (SAS) verleihen dem Gerät eine unumstößliche Stabilität. So ist der Bediener immer optimal geschützt – ganz gleich ob bei Geradeausfahrt, in Kurven oder beim Heben von Lasten.
Für mehr Sicherheit sorgt auch die hervorragende Rundumsicht: Dank eines 360°-Sichtfelds durch das Hubgerüst und Fahrerschutzdach behält der Bediener beim Palettentransport immer alles im Blick.
Der zweistufige Drehmomentwandler bietet maximale Kraft beim Anfahren und hohe Endgeschwindigkeiten – ohne Schaltvorgänge. Die variable Verstellpumpe und lastabhängige Servolenkung steigern deutlich die Energieeffizienz.

Testbericht
Im Frühjahr 2014 präsentierte Toyota die schwere Linie seiner Verbrennungsstapler der Tonero Serie. Sie ersetzen die bekannte 5er-Reihe. Die Stapler sind verfügbar mit Tragfähigkeiten von 3,5 bis 8 Tonnen. Während der IFOY Testwoche wurde der 8-Tonnen-Stapler auf die Probe gestellt.
Das Kraftpaket ist bemerkenswert kompakt und macht bereits optisch einen kräftigen Eindruck. Um hohe Stabilität und optimalen Fahrkomfort zu gewährleisten, ist der Stapler mit doppelten Vorrädern ausgestattet. Toyota Material Handling verbaut traditionell große Reifen, um den maximalen Komfort für Fahrer zu erreichen. So leisten auch die großen Luftreifen am Tonero 80 einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Reduzierung von Körpervibrationen.
Der 8-Tonner verfügt über einen geräumige Auf- und Abstieg, bestehend aus zwei Stufen. Dies ist Standard in allen Fahrzeugen der Tonero-Linie mit einer Kapazität ab 6 Tonnen. Der große Kunststoffgriff ist bequem im Handling beim Betreten des Arbeitsplatzes. Die Kabine selbst ist identisch mit die der anderen Toyota-Stapler, was den Wechsel zum Tonero 80 für den Fahrer reibungslos gestaltet. Die Hubvorrichtung wurde komplett neu gestaltet, der Mast ist solide ausgeführt. Verbesserungspotenzial in puncto Sicht birgt eine intelligentere Anordnung der Schläuche und Ketten.
Die wichtigsten Neuerungen finden sich unter der Haube, allen voran der von Toyota selbst entwickelte Dieselindustriemotor. Der Teststapler ist ausgestattet mit der größtmöglichen Motorisierung mit einer Leistung von 55 kW. Er die Abgasnorm IIIB und macht die Verwendung eines Partikelfilters überflüssig.
Im IFOY Test zeigt sich, dass bei gleicher Produktivität, der Energieverbrauch im Vergleich zum Vorgängermodell bis zu 49 Prozent niedriger liegt.
Im Standardmodus ist die Produktivität des Staplers gut. Ähnliche Stapler sind in diesem Segment noch nicht getestet worden, doch im Vergleich zu leichteren Dieselstapler kann der deutlich schwerere und größere Stapler hervorragend punkten. Im Eco-Modus beschleunigt der Tonero 80 ruhiger, auch die Hubgeschwindigkeit mit Last ist niedriger. Die Energieeinsparung berechnet auf Liter pro 100 bewegte Paletten ist jedoch nicht erwähnenswert.
IFOY Testfazit:
Der Toyota Tonero 80 ist leistungsstark, berechenbar und hat ein flüssiges und angenehmes Fahrverhalten. Der Stapler ist übersichtlich und bemerkenswert niedrig gebaut. Die Erreichbarkeit ist sehr gut und der Arbeitsbereich groß. Die Federwirkung der Luftreifen ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, dennoch ist die Stabilität des Staplers hoch. Ein Arbeitspferd für den schweren, intensiven Einsatz.

Der Tonero 3.5 - 8.0 t zeigt die Weiterentwicklung des bekannten Staplers dieser Fahrzeugklasse mit dem bekanntermaßen niedrigen Schwerpunkt in Richtung Leistungsmaximierung und Energieeinsparung. Dazu tragen insbesondere die beiden neuen Motoren und ihre Anpassung auf die Anwendung im Stapler bei. Die dafür notwendigen technischen Komponenten und Verfahren sind prinzipiell aus anderen industriellen Bereichen bekannt, wurden aber in dem vorliegenden Fall auf die Spezifika des Fahrzeugs gut angepasst.
Insgesamt handelt es sich bei diesem Fahrzeug um eine solide Weiterentwicklung bereits existierender Fahrzeuge dieser Klasse.

Innovationen
Der niedrige Schwerpunkt der neuen Tonero-Modelle ist optimal mit dem Radstand, der Bereifung und dem SAS Verriegelungszylinder abgestimmt. Das Ergebnis ist ein äußerst produktives, komfortables Arbeitsgerät. Für die nötige Sicherheit des Bedieners sorgen der robuste Rahmen und das Fahrerschutzdach – zusätzlich zu den bekannten SAS-Stabilitätsfunktionen.
Toyota bietet die Schwerlaststapler aus der Tonero-Baureihe mit zwei neuen Motoren an: einem leistungsstarken Diesel- und einem Treibgasantrieb. Beim Treibgasmotor sorgt eine elektronisch geregelte Kraftstoffeinspritzung für eine verbesserte Energieeffizienz und Produktivität.
Der 1KD Dieselmotor von Toyota mit Common-Rail-Einspritzung und variablen Turbolader bietet eine kraftvolle Beschleunigung und hohe Fahr- und Hubgeschwindigkeiten – bei vergleichsweise niedrigen Verbräuchen. Selbst ohne Dieselpartikelfilter liegen die Emissionswerte deutlich unter den Grenzwerten der Abgasemissionsstufe IIIb.
Hauptziele der Entwicklung
Die neuen Schwerlaststapler aus der Tonero-Baureihe sind mit äußerst robusten, Toyota-eigenen Industriemotoren ausgestattet.
Sie ermöglichen eine kraftvolle Beschleunigung und Top-Produktivität – bei verhältnismäßig niedrigem Energieverbrauch.
Die neuen Tonero-Modelle wurden für das Handling von schweren Lasten bis 8 Tonnen entwickelt, arbeiten dabei leistungsstark und präzise. Sie sind prädestiniert für den intensiven Mehrschichteinsatz, zur gleichzeitigen Aufnahme mehrerer Lasten und für Arbeiten mit großem Anbaugerät.

Die neuen Toyota Tonero-Modelle sind produktiv, sicher, zuverlässig und komfortabel. Ganz gleich, wie intensiv der Einsatz ist – sie spielen ihre Stärken in jeder Situation kraftvoll und präzise aus.

Short characteristic
Made for heavy handling operations, the new Tonero counterbalanced forklifts offer lift heights of up to 6 m and load capacities of 3.5 to 8.0t. A choice of new Toyota industrial engines is available: LPG or diesel. These ensure high lift speeds, acceleration and optimised fuel efficiency. The diesel common rail engine complies with the Stage IIIB emission regulation without the use of a Diesel Particulate Filter. The LPG/gasoline engine improves the ignition control and the trucks’ performance.
These compact trucks are robust, durable and make proof of high reliability in all applications. They benefit from unmatched stability thanks to the reputed System of Active Stability (SAS) and the low centre of gravity design. These keep both operator and load safe when driving, turning and lifting.
The outstanding all-round visibility gives the operator a 360° wide open view when handling loads at ground level or at height, through the mast or the overhead guard. The truck’s frame enables easy access. It maximises efficiency, safe load handling and helps maintain exemplary high safety standards.
The highly durable, dual stage torque convertor automatically maximises engine power with strong acceleration and quick load handling without gearshift and supports comfortable driving at all speeds. The new 3.5-8.0t Tonero CB range features a variable displacement pump and load sensing power steering for improved energy efficiency and consumption management.

Test Report
In spring 2014, Toyota presented the heavy-duty line in its Tonero series of combustion-engined forklifts, replacing the well-known "5" series. The forklifts are available with load capacities from 3.5 to 8 tons. It was the 8-tonner that was put through its paces during the IFOY test week.
This power package is remarkably compact and strikes the eye with its powerful look. The truck is equipped with double front wheels for increased stability and enhanced driving comfort. Toyota Material Handling traditionally use large tyres for maximum driver comfort, and the big inflated tyres on the Tonero 80 play a key role in minimising body vibration.
The 8-tonner ensures easy and spacious entry and exit via two steps, a standard feature in all trucks in the Tonero series with capacities of 6 tons or more. The large plastic handgrip makes it even easier to reach the driver workplace. The cabin itself is identical with that in the other Toyota forklifts, making life simpler for drivers using the Tonero 80 for the first time. The lifting mechanism has been totally redesigned, and the mast is strong and sturdy. In terms of potential for improvement, more intelligent arrangement of the hoses and chains would improve general visibility.
The most important innovations are under the hood, above all the Toyota-developed industrial diesel engine. The test truck was equipped with the most powerful engine available, the 55 kW version. It meets the IIIB exhaust standard, making the use of a particulate matter filter unnecessary.
The IFOY test showed that, with the same productivity, energy consumption is up to 49 percent lower than in the predecessor model.
The productivity of the truck is good in standard operating mode. No similar trucks have yet been tested in this segment, but the far heavier and bigger Tonero 80 puts on an outstanding show compared to lighter diesel trucks. The forklift accelerates more calmly in eco mode, and the lifting speed with load is also lower. The energy saving based on litres per 100 moved pallets is negligible, however.
IFOY test verdict:
The Toyota Tonero 80 is powerful, predictable and makes for a smooth and pleasant drive. The truck is well laid-out and of surprisingly low design. Accessibility is excellent and the working area generously dimensioned. The damping effect of the inflated tyres takes some getting used to, but the truck is nevertheless extremely stable. This machine is a workhorse for intensive, heavy-duty use.

The Tonero 3.5 - 8.0 t reflects the further development of this well-known forklift with its low centre of gravity in the direction of performance maximisation and energy efficiency. This objective is underpinned in particular by the two new engines and the way they are matched to the work task at hand. The technical components and processes required for this purpose are generally already in use in other fields of industry but have been well adapted to suit the specific requirements of the truck in the case of the Tonero.
All in all, this vehicle represents a solid further development of existing vehicles of this class.

Innovations
The design of these Tonero 3.5-8.0t trucks combines a very low centre of gravity with optimum wheel base, wheel size and the SAS swing-lock cylinder. These features make the trucks highly productive as well as perfectly comfortable when driving. The strong steel frame and overhead guard increase the over-all truck durability and driver protection.
Toyota offers a choice of two new engines, LPG and diesel, on the Tonero high tonnage trucks. The compact LPG/gasoline Toyota 1FS engine with electronic fuel injection gives optimum truck performance and fuel efficiency.
The Toyota 1KD diesel engine with common rail fuel injection and variable nozzle turbocharger, offers high acceleration, drive and lift speed. It achieves an emission level significantly below the Stage 3B regulation requirements without the need of a DPF.
