The names of the winners of the first International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award were kept secret right up to the end. Then last Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the 2013 results were revealed at the IFOY Award Night in Hall B1 of the CeMAT@transport logistic in Munich, where the delighted winners were presented with their metal and glass trophies. 

The award in the top truck category of counter balanced trucks up to 3.5 tons went to the RX 70 Hybrid from Still GmbH. In the opinion of the jury, this first diesel forklift with energy recovery system and electrical power transmission not only achieved unmatched low energy consumption during the IFOY test but also laid down a benchmark for the development of these trucks, taking the balance of ecology and economy into a new era.

The Hamburg-based Jungheinrich AG company scooped two awards. Its DFG/TFG 540 s diesel/gas machine with hydrostatic drive and a load capacity of 5 tons reigned supreme in the category of counter balanced trucks from 3.5 tons. Where extremely high loading performance is needed, during reversing for the loading and unloading of haulage trucks for example, the strengths of the hydrostatic drive – dynamic acceleration, fast reversing and precision steering – come fully into play. And it was ultimately these benefits that swayed the jury.

Jungheinrich's ETV/ETM 214/216 reach truck won the Warehouse Truck category in what was an exciting "photo-finish". In stating the reasons for its decision, the jury said that the highly reliable order-picking truck combines energy efficiency with excellent handling, great driving performance and a range of ergonomic features.

In the Forklift Truck Solutions category for intralogistics solutions, Crown Gabelstapler GmbH & Co. KG made a highly persuasive case with its InfoLink fleet management solution. Thanks to a totally new and far more efficient forklift fleet less than half the size of the previous one combined with the "InfoLink" fleet management system, the materials handling specialist succeeded in cutting maintenance and repair costs at UK office supplies wholesaler Spicers by 90 percent at the end of 2012 - an outcome that also impressed the international jury with members from eight countries.

IFOY Award presentation in Austria

On June 19, the logistics magazine BUSINESS+LOGISTIC published by Austrian publishing company RS Verlag staged the first national presentation of the International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award during the 20th Austrian Logistics Conference in Linz. With around 1,000 visitors, the mega-event organised by the Association for Network Logistics (VNL) is considered to be the biggest logistics event in Austria.

IFOY 2013 Winners

Then last Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the 2013 results were revealed at the IFOY Award Night in Hall B1 of the CeMAT@transport logistic in Munich, where the delighted winners were presented with their metal and glass trophies. "This year, the issues of efficiency and customer benefit were the key factors in the jury vote. All nominated vehicles are leaders in their categories, and the decision was accordingly close", said Anita Würmser, Executive Chairperson of the IFOY Jury, at the presentation ceremony.

IFOY Test Days 2013

The first IFOY test days are over. The nine nominated trucks and three solutions for the IFOY Award underwent thorough testing over the course a week on the grounds of IFOY partner Deutsche Messe AG.

14 jury members from eight countries travelled to the venue to cast their vote. The jury came together, then tested and assessed the trucks. The leading contestants for the IFOY Award 2013 are a well-kept secret right up to the last minute before the names are revealed at the IFOY Award Night and the audience hears the all-important words: "and the winner is...".

    Schritt 3: Bringen Sie in jeder Kategorie die Bewerber in eine von oben nach unten absteigende Reihenfolge. An oberster Stelle steht das/die Ihrer Meinung nach beste Gerät/Lösung. Klicken Sie dazu auf die blauen Buttons rechts neben dem Nominierten, halten Sie die Maustaste gedrückt und verschieben Sie den Eintrag mit der Maus beliebig oft und so lange, bis Sie Ihre gewünschte Reihenfolge haben (Drag & Drop). Vergessen Sie nicht, zu speichern (Button unten). Nach dem Speichern sehen Sie in der Frontendansicht "Meine Wahl" Ihre gewählten Reihenfolgen.

    In the second selection round, your job is now to select the winner in each category.

    The selection deadline is:

    (no changes are possible after the deadline)

    Voting instructions

    Step 1: Click on the link "Selection YOUR NAME" to access the front end view of your selection page (below). This is where you will subsequently see the voting results.

    Step 2: Click on the pen symbol (top left) to enter the selection.

    Step 3: Place the nominees in each category in a descending sequence from top to bottom, putting the truck/solution you believe to be the best in first place. To do this, click on the blue buttons to the right of the nominee, keep the mouse button depressed and drag the nominees with the mouse as often and for as long as necessary until you have created the desired sequence (drag & drop). Don't forget to save the sequence (button at bottom). Once you have saved them, you can see your selected sequences in the front end view "My selection".

    You can change and save the sequences as often as you like up to the end of the  selection phase.

    PLEASE NOTE: the voting function will automatically be blocked at 12 midday on Friday, April 4, 2014.
    After this time, you will still be able to access the texts and your selection sequences.

    A selection sequence will be automatically created based on all the voting results.

    Your job is now to select the winner in each category.

    The selection deadline is:

    Voting instructions

    Step 1: Click on the link "Selection YOUR NAME" to access the front end view of your selection page (below). This is where you will subsequently see the voting results.

    Step 2: Click on the pen symbol (top left) to enter the selection.

    Step 3: Place the nominees in each category in a descending sequence from top to bottom, putting the truck/solution you believe to be the best in first place. To do this, click on the blue buttons to the right of the nominee, keep the mouse button depressed and drag the nominees with the mouse as often and for as long as necessary until you have created the desired sequence (drag & drop). Don't forget to save the sequence (button at bottom). Once you have saved them, you can see your selected sequences in the front end view "My selection".

    You can change and save the sequences as often as you like up to the end of the  selection phase.

    PLEASE NOTE: the voting function will automatically be blocked at 12 midday on Monday, Feb 24, 2020.
    After this time, you will still be able to access the texts and your selection sequences.

    A selection sequence will be automatically created based on all the voting results.

Vergessen Sie nicht, zu speichern (Button unten). Nach dem Speichern sehen Sie in der Frontendansicht "Meine Wahl" Ihre gewählten Reihenfolgen.

    Liebe IFOY Juroren,

    willkommen zur Nominierung für den IFOY AWARD 2024.

    • 35 Unternehmen haben sich für den IFOY AWARD 2024 beworben. Alle Teilnehmer wurden auf die formalen und technischen Kriterien hin überprüft und 18 sind bereits im Vorfeld ausgeschieden.

    • Insgesamt liegen 17 geprüfte und gültige Bewerbungen von 15 Herstellern vor. Ich empfehle, alle für das Finale zu nominieren.

      ACHTUNG: Eine Bewerbung von Safelog in der Kategorie Integrated Customer Solution verzögert sich infolge noch vertraulicher Daten. Es handelt sich um die Factory 46 von Mercedes, das Nachfolgeprojekt der Factory 56, die als Blaupause für die Autofabrik der Zukunft bekannt geworden ist.       Das Projekt wird ebenfalls für eine Nominierung empfohlen.
      Sobald der finale Text vorliegt, lade ich ihn ins Nominierungsportal hoch und informiere Euch.

      ACHTUNG: Auch in der Bewerbung von Agilox in der Kategorie Integrated Customer Solution fehlen aus Vertraulichkeitsgründen noch einige Daten. Dieses Projekt ebenfalls für eine Nominierung empfohlen.

    • Die Zuordnung der Bewerbungen in die Kategorie ist noch vorläufig. Die endgültige Festlegung der Kategorien wird gemeinsam mit den Testern nach der Nominierung getroffen.

    ABSTIMMUNG:
    Die Profile der gültigen Bewerbungen sind über den Navigationspunkt Jury Portal → Bewerbungen 2024 in der Hauptnavigation oder über den Text-Link einsehbar. Die Bewerbungen sind in Deutsch und Englisch verfasst und enthalten Videos, Fotos, Datenblätter und andere Downloads.

    Deine Aufgabe ist es, im 1. Wahlgang in jeder Kategorie die Fahrzeuge/Lösungen zu nominieren, die zu den IFOY TEST DAYS eingeladen werden. Da in keiner Kategorie mehr als 5 Bewerbungen existieren, sind alle Bewerberfahrzeuge/-konzepte automatisch nominiert, es sei denn, die Jury schließt mit der Mehrheit ihrer Stimmen einen Bewerber von der Nominierung aus.

    BITTE BEACHTEN: Die Auswahl "nominiert: nein" gibt der Jury die Möglichkeit, einen "unwürdigen" Bewerber aus wichtigem grund auszuschließen (z.B. gravierende technologische Mängel, ggf. unwürdiger Sieger, falsche Daten, Betrug, etc.). Er muss ausführlich begründet werden. Ein nicht begründeter Ausschluss ist ungültig. 

    Bitte beachte folgende Regeln:

    Alle Bewerbungen

    • ... sind geheim und dürfen NICHT veröffentlicht werden. Du bekommst Mitte Januar eine Pressemitteilung über die Nominierten.
    • ... sind ausschließlich den Mitgliedern der Jury und deren Beratern zugänglich.
    • Jeder Berater muss bei mir registriert werden (Name, Funktion und Anschrift). Berater unterliegen den gleichen Verschwiegenheitspflichten wie die Jury. Berater sind bei den TEST DAYS zugelassen, und können von einem Juror eingeladen werden (bitte unbedingt bei mir anmelden). Diese müssen jedoch auf eigene Kosten anreisen. 

    Nominierungsschluss ist asap, aber spätestens am
    Donnerstag, der 21. Dezember 2023, 12:00 Uhr

    Wahlanleitung

    Schritt 1: Durch Klicken auf den Link "Nominierung IHR NAME" kommst Du zur Frontendansicht Deiner Nominierungsseite (unten). Dort findest Du auch Dein Abstimmungsergebnis.

    Schritt 2: Um die Nominierung durchzuführen, klicke auf das Stift-Symbol (oben links).

    Schritt 3: Bringe in jeder Kategorie die Bewerber in eine von oben nach unten absteigende Reihenfolge. An oberster Stelle steht das/die Deiner Meinung nach beste Gerät/Lösung. Klicke dazu auf die blauen Buttons rechts neben der Bewerbung, halte die Maustaste gedrückt und verschiebe den Eintrag mit der Maus beliebig oft und so lange, bis Du Deine gewünschte Reihenfolge hast (Drag & Drop). Vergiss nicht zu speichern (Button unten). Nach dem Speichern siehst Du in der Frontendansicht "Meine Nominierung" Deine gewählte Reihenfolge.

    BITTE BEACHTE: am Donnerstag, den 21. Dezember 2023, 12:00 Uhr wird die Abstimmung automatisch gesperrt.

    Du hast danach weiterhin Zugriff auf die Bewerbungstexte sowie Deine Nominierungsreihenfolgen.

    Aus allen Abstimmungsergebnissen wird automatisch eine Nominierungsreihenfolge erstellt.

    Dear IFOY jurors,

    welcome to the nomination for the IFOY AWARD 2024.

    • 35 companies applied for the IFOY AWARD 2024. All participants were checked against the formal and technical criteria and 18 were eliminated in advance.
    • In total, there are 17 proofed and valid applications from the 15 manufacturers. I recommend to nominate all of them for the final.

      ATTENTION:       One application from Safelog in the Integrated Customer Solution category has been delayed due to confidential data. The project in question is Mercedes' Factory 46, the successor to Factory 56, which has become known as the blueprint for the car factory of the future. (https://group.mercedes-benz.com/innovation/produktion/factory-56.html).
      The project is also recommended for nomination.
      As soon as the final text is available, I will upload it to the nomination portal and let you know.

      ATTENTION:       Agilox's application in the Integrated Customer Solution category is also still missing data for reasons of confidentiality. This project is also recommended for nomination.

    • The categorization of the applications is still preliminary. The final decision on the categories will be made together with the test team after the nomination.

    VOTING:
    You can view the profiles of the entered trucks and solutions via the navigation item Jury Portal → Applications 2024 (scroll down for Englisch version) in the main navigation bar or via the text link. The entries are in both German and English and contain videos, photos, data sheets and several other downloads.

    In the first selection round, your job is now to nominate the products/solutions to be invited to the IFOY TEST DAYS. As there are no more than 5 entries in each category, all entered trucks/solutions are automatically nominated unless the jury decides to exclude an entrant from nomination by majority vote.

    PLEASE NOTE: the choice "nominated: no" enables the jury to exclude an "unworthy" entrant from a nomination for good reason (e.g. serious technological defects, possibly unworthy winner, false data, fraud, etc.). Detailed reasons must also be given for exclusion. An exclusion without reasons is not valid. 

    Please read the following rules carefully:
     
    All entries
    • ... are confidential and may NOT be made public. You will receive a press release about the nominees oin mid January.
    • ... can only be accessed by the members of the jury and their advisors.
    • Each advisor must be registered to me (name, function and address). Advisors are subject to the same confidentiality obligations as the jury. They may take part at the TEST DAYS but must pay for their own travel (registration via email is essential).

    Voting instructions

    Step 1: Click on the link "Nomination YOUR NAME" to access the front end view of your nomination page (below). This is where you will subsequently see the voting results.

    Step 2: Click on the pen symbol (top left) to enter the nomination.

    Step 3: Place the entrants in each category in a descending sequence from top to bottom, putting the truck/solution you believe to be the best in first place. To do this, click on the blue buttons to the right of the entry, keep the mouse button depressed and drag the entries with the mouse as often and for as long as necessary until you have created the desired sequence (drag & drop). Don't forget to save the sequence (button at bottom). Once you have saved them, you can see your selected sequences in the front end view "My nomination".

    PLEASE NOTE: the voting function will automatically be blocked at 12 midday on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

    After this time, you will still be able to access the entry texts and your nomination sequences.

    A nomination sequence will be automatically created based on all the voting results.
