VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association is sponsor of the IFOY Award
The initiator and sponsor of the International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) is the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association. In line with the Statutes, the sector association has placed the organisation and selection process for the IFOY Award in the hands of an international and independent jury.
VDMA - structure and organisation
The VDMA - the German Engineering Federation - is one of the key association service providers in Germany and comprises the largest engineering industry network in Europe with around 3,000 member companies. The VDMA has 38 sector and six regional associations, central specialist departments with their committees and working groups as well as service companies.
The regional associations maintain contacts at local level as well as with the regional state governments. In Berlin and Brussels, the VDMA interacts directly with economic policy decision-makers and multipliers. Cooperation between the sector associations is backed up by cross-sector forums and projects. The VDMA portfolio is rounded off by service companies, foundations and research associations.

Sector Association - key figures
With around 200 member companies representing roughly 56,200 employees and an annual production volume of approximately 13.7 billion euros (2010), the Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association is Europe's leading association for materials handling equipment. It is divided into four specialist departments: cranes and lifting equipment, materials handling equipment, continuous handling equipment and warehouse technology.
The materials handling and intralogistics sector is the second-largest specialist sector in the German plant engineering industry and the number two exporting sector, after drive engineering in both cases. On the international stage, its exports are higher than those of its counterparts in Japan and the USA.
The head office of the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association also represents the intralogistics sector through the Intralogistics Forum.
